SILKS/AERIAL FABRIC ALL LEVELS
SATURDAY 12-130 UP
We will learn how to dance with the aerial fabric on the ground. With so much focus on the “aerial” aspect and doing the big fancy tricks, dancing on the floor with the fabric tends to get lost. We will explore various techniques, ideas & improvisation for creating movement with the fabric while remaining on the floor, or close to it. Prerequisite: must know foot locks, be comfortable 6” off the ground with no mats and have a willingness to play!
CATHY’S BIO:
I spent the first 2 years of my aerial fabric exploration playing with the fabric on the floor. I didn’t even know a foot lock, and barely knew how to climb then! With a strong dance background, I spent hours in the studio, figuring out what I could do with this new apparatus. Over the years, injuries have left me grounded and back to my roots of working with the fabric on the ground, continuing to find new pathways.
